Michael Durbin's Vanity Site |
One of the things that I've found that allows me to express a passion is photography. So, I put together a different web site devoted to
showcasing the more artistic side of my work at MPDurbinPhotography.com. There will be some duplicate images in the albums that are on both sites, but the albums here at Searcher's Rest will include images that are more informal and may not measure up to my idea of "publishing quality", as well as images of the people that help make the places special.
I'm also putting together some of my favorite links on a page of their own. I'm sure that page will keep changing as my favorites change, but that's the idea, right?
For me, photography is a way to share what I experience with others, so "good" shots to me mean inspiring views, commanding mountain ranges, brilliant sunsets, or other often-overlooked details of the environment that capture the essence of what I'm feeling about a subject or a place. I must admit that I think twice about hauling extra lenses with me when I travel, but I've missed too many shots that only a wide angle could capture, or a tele could see. The eye is too good at picking out details by itself. Photographers need the help of a range of lenses in order to come close.

We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time. T. S. Elliot |
...Thank God! there is always a Land of Beyond For us who are true to the trail; A vision to seek, a beckoning peak, A farness that never will fail; A pride in our soul that mocks at a goal, A manhood that irks at a bond; And try how we will, unattainable still, Behold it, our Land of Beyond! Robert Service |
